Since I have dropped religion and political posting a great load has dropped from my shoulders. I wasn't getting anywhere and all I was doing was raising my own blood pressure. Don't need that!

Been working on a biography of my life on this planet for my kids and grandkids. I have about 30 pages so far (haven't worked on it in a month or two) been too busy arguing worthless points. So now I need to type it into my computer and print it out. I think I will put it together the old fashioned way with physical paste up rather than computer programs for the most part. May use a bit of paint to put together pix and drawings. Those 30pages only bring me up to about age 7 so got loads more to write. I have a Type-O-Graph I bought when I worked for Sears back in the 80's and it writes in script using little ball point ink fill pens. (4 colors) Really a neat little typewriter and I may use it to write certain things. This is just going to be a fun project. I have always loved the idea of creating my own book from start to printed bound finish. It will probably be paper back though as I am not ready to tackle hardbound books. Maybe in the future. Just some of my projects I want to get back to work on.
There, I feel better already! :-)

Don't know what days you are referring to, but the bible was not taught in my school. Thank Gawd!

With all the different takes on what the Bible says, it would be totally crazy. I would be so pissed if some teacher had taught my kids that the rapture was a part of the scheme of things.

Paulwa, a few years back I talked extensively to my folks and several of the older surviving aunts and uncles and wrote up a history of my family. It ran to over 60 pages to date but I'm still adding to it.

I'm sure glad I did it since both my folks and a couple of uncles have died since then. I did it all on Microsoft Word and sent copies to all my relatives.

It is amazing how after you have written about a period and moved on then you remember something else. Ha. think a person can never really complete something like this. Just have to take the best and leave the rest unless you want a 1000 page tome. I haven't gotten back into it yet. I am glad I priinted out all those pages before the virus destroyed everything. I know as I type it all up again I will remember new things to add.
Bet your family was sure happy to get all that biography.

Computer is the best way to get that info in, crypticgimp..that is compared to the old tyrewriter method. You can change wordage quickly and print it out. With the right program you can format it to be printed out and build pages into a book. Very satisfying to see your words in a book even if you do make it yourself. For salable works there are businesses who will print up books on demand at reasonable prices.

If you use the computer to type your manuscript, a good way to preserve extra copies is to e-mail it to friends and relatives who would be interested. You can also e-mail it to yourself, and that way it'll be preserved in case your computer ever crashed.

I keep duplicate copies of all my writings on a jump drive as a backup, too.

I have recently bought a couple of different jump drives/ flash. One is complete plug in USB but the housing broke on iit so has to be fixed. I bought another one that swings into a case/metal kind of like the old multi blade steel measuring gauges used on cars. The last one is two piece plastic housing that you insert any SD card(camera) into and it also usea USB ports. When I got the virus on my computer a while back I lost pix of which many cannot be replaced, my personal note file wiith passwords etc. and important things I wanted to remember. That hurt. I thought I had everything loaded onto a flash drive but nope some of what I thought I had stored turned out to be only icons and were totaly useless. Be careful about that when copying over to flash drives to get all the content of a fiile or program and not just the icon link to that file.

Well, I'M feeling much better since I walked away from Christianity and embraced Unitarian Universalism. For the curious, here is some info http://www.answers.com/topic/unitarian-universalism#General_beliefs_of_Unitarian_Universalists

Wow, Linda! Weren't you Lutheran Missouri Synod? What made you take the step?

Flicka, I left the Missouri Synod for the ELCA four years ago. Began reading Thomas Merton, then some Buddhist authors, then Eckhart Tolle, then the Tao Teh Ching. The more I read of different philosophies, the more I saw the common threads instead of the differences; That combined with a gradual disillusionment with many Christian teachings, led me to where I am today. It's all good, people.
