been having some doozies lately...

I'm fresh to the chair, but starting about 2 months after injury when I really started getting around good in a chair I started having dreams where I'm in the chair as opposed to able-bodied.
Not sleeping well in rehab I did not reach REM sleep very often, the only time was with seroquel that made me very groggy the following day. I perferred not to take anything, because it was either too powerful or did nothing. I told myself I'd sleep when I was tired (had room-mate that snored like a freight train)

Now that I'm home in my nice bed in my comfy zone I find I'm dreaming regularly - and with more and more frequency that the dream involves my chair. Strange ones where I'm AB but really focused on my chair, ones where I'm totally confined to it and fine with it, others where I'm still out dirt-biking, snowboarding, skateboarding...

Do the AB ones ever stop? I hope not... any thoughts or experience?

AB dreams are common among SCI survivors. it's because dream states tap into the most primal experiences, which would predate your injury.

Very true! However, at some point, my AB dreams always had some type of mobility impairment, even if it was only deep mud or a terribly cluttered room where I actually had to climb over obstacles to cross to the other side. Sometimes I'll be pushing my chair, or if I'm in it, I can get up and do somethings.

Having never walked (spinal injury @ birth) I have no clue what it's like to "walk". However, I do dream about it, but in my dreams someone, something, or several people are always holding me upright in some manner. Otherwise I usually float or fly which seems normal to me.

In real waking life my total desire was to figure skate. Love it. I would daydream floating around on the ice in fantastic flips, jumps, etc. The operative word here is float!!!!!!!! My hubby picked me up one day and skated me around. I'm not sure I have gotten over the shock today of just how smooth THAT ICE WAS NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
