I am inquiring if anybody has received any relief from pain using marijuana (edible or vaporizer) so you dont inhale all those chemicals that come with smoking it! I ask because I am really getting tired of feeling like a guinea pig, experimenting with different meds the MD's prescribe. I have to be able to function because I work and try to maintan and active life! Its been 18 years since my sci, and at first I was getting tons of diferent meds! After a real bad experience, I stopped cold turkey and went thru withdrawals (didnt know it at the time) bad. So now I only get the meds if I am haing a bad day!!!!!which is most of the time but I just try and bite the bullet and ride it out!! In case it helps, I am a t-12, L-1 incomplete fracture _________________________ NO ACT OF SELF-BETRAYAL, GOES UNREWARDED!!!

It will be interesting to see if Holder's stance will make a difference for a local guy who is being sentenced today in Federal court. He's facing something like 100 years. The case has been interesting to me from the beginning because his dispensary was a target of the sheriff's dept. I'd love to be privy to the inner workings of the case. U.S. District Court Judge George H. Wu asked prosecutors for a written response from the Justice Department about its position on medical marijuana prosecutions in light of recent comments from Atty. Gen. Eric H. Holder Jr. Holder said last week that the Justice Department under President Obama had no plans to prosecute dispensary owners who operated within their state's law. Wu said he did not believe that any change in policy would affect the conviction of Charles Lynch, 47. Can't afford the dang stuff here in Cali anyway, even the club weed with all the wacky names is way too dang expensive. And way way too powerful. I used to use it to detox off opiate pain meds to avoid upping the dosage. But it affects us all differently I guess. Good luck, and if it quits working for you, in other words, starts making it too hard to take care of yourself and your business. Then I hope you can stop. I have not used it regularly in a decade, occassional use, maybe once a year or so..depending. I mainly smoked it, made brownies for sure, they can be extremely potent, it will take some trai/error to find out how much pot you need in your brownie mix or you'll be too loaded to do anything! I don't miss smoking pot, I've learned to handle "most" of my pain, no all, at times I'll use a tylenol or tylenol PM, they take away most of the pain, enough to get a decent nights sleep. Pain is difficult and each person must understand that continual use of "pain relievers/drugs]is a never ending battle... Use ONLY what you "need", not what you "want"... Neurogenic pain, especially in lower extremeties is a life long battle, either learn to not let it control you...or it will! Yes, it's easier said than done, but drugs of any kinds are insidious and you'll just want more..and more...etc..etc...etc _________________________ Another perfect day...

I use to be the type to turn up my nose at any pain medication, now I take it regularly and have my back up and a back up to the back up. <sigh> I know I'm preaching to the choir, sorry.

The last pain doc said I should be using Medical MJ and it would be the safest thing for me to take. You don't have to keep upping it like many other drugs and it will relax me + take my pain away & help me sleep.. I'm all for that but can't find a pain doc willing to give it to me.. My pain doc does injection therapy so he cannot help me but is trying to find me a doctor to help... he suggested I see a cancer doc maybe they could give it to me... I used to be able to do other things and not think about the pain but as the years pass by and more of my body hurts it's slowly taking away my life... The pain doc I went to does injections only (didn't know that before I got there) but he is trying to be helpful.. Suggested I go to a cancer doc and explain my situation and hopefully they will give me the meds... I'm allergic to ALL pain meds... kinda sucks for me huh... It mostly happens to people with incomplete injuries and incomplete nerve degeneration type problems. In the case of SCI I think maybe it has to do with the atrophy most of us experience as a result of SCI. It takes some sort of body acid to break down the tissue, mostly muscle tissue that we no longer use. This is why we only get the pain in the areas we no longer have movement or limited movement in. Individual body chemistry makes a difference. Over the last 7 or so years I thought maybe I was just building up a better tolerance to the pain and have been able to cut back on dosage of meds a lot. This could be due to the slowing down of the atrophy process. It's an unlikely theory but worth investigation. Most people who experience less pain are likely to be less likely to talk about it. I for one am afraid to jinks it. But I don't tend to be superstitious. I did get hit by that truck on a friday the 13th though. Freaky huh? and the dudes name was jason too! He was a hockey player, goofen around with his girlfriend and wearing his hockey mask while driving That night. what a dork huh? (hehe. only the date part of this account is true by the way) It's a fun way to mess with people though. They say WOW REALLY?, n I say nope LOL. It's more likely that I've just gotten used to dealing with the pain with metaphysical and spiritual tools but I'm wondering if any one else has suffered less from the same acid burn like pain as I have over the years. I'm sure it does take some sort of body acid to break down the tissue as it atrophies away. Maybe some of us are more aware of our body slowly digesting itself!... yuk huh? Got skinny legs? Is yer but almost gone? I'll bet married men have less butt left than the rest of us cuz they got a sweetheart chewing away at what's left of their butt when they screw up!. HMMMM. I wouldn't mind having a warm soft body sleepin next to me every night though. Even if the vaporizer method is less toxic to my lungs. Can anyone say there’s a big difference between smoking it or vaporizing it? Wouldn’t we still get all the same carcinogens that screw up our lungs?, heart?, n memory? I’m working pretty hard at keeping myself healthy, putting smoke in my lungs messes up my spirituality, Am I the only person not in denial about that little detail? I realize that it affects many of us differently. It makes it very difficult to really meditate and have any kind of healthy spirituality. I wonder if the marinol pills would have the same affects as smoking it. Anyone tried it around here? My happiness depends on having a healthy spiritual life. It’s also much easier to tolerate pain when I can meditate and pray on a regular basis. Smokin weed makes it way too easy to slack off on taking care of myself. I haven’t met many people who can honestly say it doesn’t make em less ambitious and less able to take care of regular life business. I also have to admit that when this nerve pain gets bad, I can’t focus on anything anyway. If it wasn’t for the severe digestive problems and constant fight to keep from building up a tolerance I would just keep taking the same old opiate meds. I suspect the opiates are making it much harder for my digestive tract to get nutrients outa the food I eat. I’m freakin sick of forcing myself to eat so dang much health food. I’m real sure if I could try some of that marinol I’d be much more enthusiastic about eating more often. Does anyone know any truly healthy and energetic 55 or 65 yr. old pot smokers? We’re already fighting off a ton of other environmental toxins polluting the entire food chain. I’d like to make it to 80 or 90. MrsDrublic MrsDrublic Member Registered: 04/03/09 Posts: 926 Loc: los angeles ish	using a vaporizer burns off the thc crystals, if ur doing it right it doesnt actually burn the weed its self, and u can see that once u take the weed outta the vaporizer.. theres no flame, the weed never touches the heat source. and technically u could take that vaporized weed and use it for brownies as well, itll still have the same qualities but in essence will have less potency bc the crystals have been burned off prior.they make so many diff forms of edibles as well.. u can get the honey elixer drops, which is clover honey and thc, comes in diff flavors from vanilla to citrus.. lots of diff things to choose from. if ur interested in learning more go to norml.com _________________________

(New hope for Central Pain) I think it might be a great alternative. As gimps our kidneys are pretty damn importsant now and im assuming most of you indwellers or supers fight UTI's all the time. So on top of that you're going to pile on a bunch of pills that "might work" and often times even if they do, it's not enough relief to justify taking such large amounts. I also think some people will cry over a stubbed toe (if they could feel it). Spasms and shit suck bad, and I'd suppose it's different for a lot. As an incomplete, I feel we often times get them worse. I'm no SCI pro but don't over think it. Ever shot an animal and watched it twitch before it dies? Same shit...ours just takes longer. We're all on a sinking ship. As far as WEED? One of the reasons I moved to Colorado! It's amazing and gimp accessible! Weed has helped me in so many ways not just physically but Mary has gotten me through some rough mental times. I have every contraption to smoke, eat or vape weed you can imagine. I still smoke weed. I love the taste, aroma and feel of some amazing indica, sativa or hybrid. Im not picky! Feel free to smoke as you'll probably die from something else before something pot related. Unless youre on a vent! lol Pot works faster than any pills when you wake up in pain in the middle of the night...pills youre constantly trying to stay ahead whereas pot is as needed.
