Conversion of manual to electric chair questions

[font:Verdana][/font]
Hello,
I am considering buying a manual chair, I'm under 175 lbs, and considering converting it with an after market manual to electric wheel chair. Questions: What brands of manual chair would you consider and what brands of conversion kits, manual to electrical chair, would you consider? Are any of them considered the Cadillac in their market?
Thanks for your help.

Re: Conversion of manual to electric chair questions

I have never seen a conversion kit that met my needs. I once saw a person in a manual chair with a device called a "Roll Aid" (I think) that he could add or remove from his chair. I could not. Here is a link to what I remember it looking like but this may not be the exact product.

I don't know if they are still being made as the company website doesn't link to them.

Re: Conversion of manual to electric chair questions

I keep my powerchair in our unheated garage through the winter and so far have not had any trouble with batteries freezing. At least I don't think I have and I live in cold Washington state.

PS I've used wet cells and gel-cells. Maybe if it is cold this year I may throw a blanket over my chair and put a 25 or 25 watt light under the chair to keep the temperature up.
