Hi all. 30 year old manual (sometimes motorized) wheelchair user here. I think one of my shoulders has finally given out on me. My PCP is new and so I don't totally trust her yet seeing as we don't know eachother. She gave me a perscription to go to an Orthopedic, but I'm wondering if I should specifcally go for a Sports Med. Doc or a rehab doc? does it even matter? I have Spina Bifida but have not had orthopedic issues since early early childhood and do not live near//nor choose to attend an adult Spina Bifida Clinic. Can anyone reccomend what kind of doc I should go see? and if anyone lives in the Gloucester/camden county area of Southern NJ. Does anyone have a reccomendation? Thanks in advance. |

Initially, I would see an orthopedic doctor as she recommended. It's not like she's doing a heart bypass so I wouldn't see trust as a factor. Then go to this website and scroll down to spinal nurse and call her. She's an expert in spinal cord injuries and will either give you your answer or find out and call you back |
