pain in stomach

Has anyone dealt with painful bloating? My brother, paralyzed at t9, eats very little and has daily bloating. He weighs 115, but wears size 36 pants to accommodate the bloat.
Any suggestions or anyone with similar issues?

Check for allergy such as lactose or glutin.

Thanks Paul! The weird thing though is eats almost nothing. Some cheese, but went gluten free months and months ago. His diet is: a.m.--gatorade and Udi's gluten free bread . Lunch banana and dinner hummus and tomatoes with mozzarella. I don't even think there are enough calories in the day. But he feels the gas and bloating so much that it overrides any feelings of hunger. We are both so stumped.
I think he should start using his standing chair daily. Do others? It seems gravity might help.
