Look what I found in archives-12/98

A long time ago, this board was created.
Bye bye, messageboard.
Quote:
[/quote]The heart of the message board is advice, good and bad, friendly and hostile. If there's a wealth of generosity and sharing--and there always is--there's a like prodigality of insult and acerbity. Internaut beware: this board is quick to take offense and slow to take prisoners.
Think of it as a crash course in becoming a hip crip, an electronic demo for disability cool. Or maybe as the Jerry Springer show run amok. Either way, it's an invitation into the lives of hundreds of people with disabilities. The wit and wisdom here is not all truth and beauty, but there's a rare convergence here of--think of it--thousands of years of disability experience. You'll emerge older and wiser--maybe even fried to a crisp--but fully steeped. And you will, for better and worse, in sickness and health, through thick, thin and thinnest, have a connection to a community that's always there for you.
Go to http://www.newmobility.com, click message board, and you're home.

I thought I joined in 98, but it must have been sometime in 99. The board had already experienced several fakers and one fake death. Hard to believe really...those types must swarm around the population of people with disabilities.

Perhaps we could talk Emma into a 'Going Away' party that includes exposing the board posters' IPs just one last time...

That could be fun!!!

Better to let things rest, Flixx

I remember when you joined, Flixx!

I know I joined in '98, although it says '00.

I was so excited when I read in NM magazine that a chatroom was created...

We've met so many great folks

So true! I will forever blame Eddz for getting me hooked on this board. The patio was a cool place to meet. Good times.

that greg was taken, mind fucked, sodomized and left to bleed out at the end of a back county wilderness road, he survived by eating tree bark and drinking his own urine until he was found and nursed back to health by two lesbian female trappers, they taught him things and when his physical wounds healed the greg that returned was

Re: Look what I found in archives-12/98

EVERYBODY who came to this website as a naive newcomer and jumped into the fray of the feuds and controversial topics got their ass kicked by someone and had to learn who to trust and who would stab them in the back. It has always been common practice to warn new folks to be careful about taking sides or getting into the hot discussions unless they were wearing asbestos undies, but many ignored that advice at their own peril.

This place was a bastion of pure and unadulterated free speech, and that made it a great but sometimes dangerous place to hang out. I miss the classic and lengthy discussions with Lee, GPaul, Wabi, Paulwa, "I", Ron, Eric1, and many others who had a very different opinions than mine since I learned a lot about myself through having to defend my positions under sometimes fierce attack.

I'm just glad to be able to still stay in touch with so many of the friends I've made here through PQ and Facebook, but it's sad to see this site fizzle out and die.
