First Ever Accessible Yoga Conference

The first Accessible Yoga Conference will take place September 12-13 in Santa Barbara, Calif., and organizers are offering New Mobility readers a 10 percent discount. “The mission of the conference is to provide a forum where the yoga community can come together to connect, share and support those who wish to expand access to the yoga teachings for people with disabilities,” says one of the conference organizers Patrice Wagner. Wagner will be writing a feature article for a future issue of New Mobility on how yoga instructors with disabilities are joining together.

The two-day program at the Santa Barbara Yoga Center will feature a keynote speech by Matthew Sanford, a yoga instructor who is paralyzed from the chest down, and the workshops are designed to appeal to beginners, more advanced yoga practitioners, and instructors alike.
