Bedrest sucks. There’s no way around it. But thankfully there are more and more options to increase your productivity and happiness should you get stuck in bed for a long time (or if you simply spend a lot of time in bed). The Super Gorone Desk caught my eye as one of the better options out there. You can strap down your laptop, tablet or even a book (I think) and then position the desk so you can use it comfortably from a supine position without having to worry about it falling over or on you.
I’ve had great luck using this swing-away Hammacher Schlemmer stand with my iPad in bed, but I wouldn’t trust it with a laptop or anything much heavier than a tablet. The Super Gorone Desk sells for $121 plus $76 shipping (from Japan). The Hammacher Schlemmer stand is $179.95 plus U.S. shipping.
