The Buoniconti Fund and United Spinal Association have created the Spinal Network, a national network of peer support groups with the goal of connecting people with spinal cord injuries to the best resources and helping them live independent and active lives.
“There are a variety of SCI/D support groups out there, both new and old. Unfortunately, there is very little coordination between them and their standards can be drastically different,” says Paul J. Tobin, president and CEO of United Spinal Association. “The Spinal Network will help people adjust to life with a spinal cord injury by providing guidance with employment, housing, transportation, health care, independent living, education and recreation.” Also, grants will be available to improve outreach efforts to people with new injuries.
